It is because of this that the safari park has asked for our assistance as they would like to name her after the wintery conditions, something you all know lots about.

Here is the link to the live webcam of the baby white rhino and her mum, Dorothy:
www.checkitlive.com/camera/rhinos-blair-drummond-safari-park-scotland.html

If you would like to see any further information on the safari park here is a link:
www.blairdrummond.com

So far here are some of your suggestions for names:

Fleur de Lys - I have spoken to most of you in class about what needs to be completed but this is just a reminder. All the following notes need to be completed:

Structure of the Earth
Earth's Atmosphere
Plate Tectonics
Geothermal energy sheet
Renewable energy sheet
Rock cycle
Experiment write up: Why tectonic plates move

Anyone who had issues sending me a copy of your endangered species project do this over the holidays. Those of you who did not complete it you have a communication sheet home to do this, it must be signed. The questions for the project are on a previous blog entry.

Any queries just let me know.

Happy Holidays!Mrs Rosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06099884728230106122noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439473054907068859.post-88192281302101291582009-12-08T12:38:00.001-08:002009-12-08T12:45:10.617-08:00Climate Change QuestionsWe are currently studying the earth in class and renewable energy. Currently the UN Climate Change Conference is taking place in Copenhagen.

The BBC are asking for school pupils around the world to answer 4 questions about the climate where they live. Here are the questions:

Tell us about the extreme weather where you live. If you have been in storms, floods, droughts, heatwaves, or other extreme weather, tell us what happened.

Have you ever missed school because of extreme weather? Tell us what happened.

Do you think you are affected by climate change? If yes, how?

Whose job is it to look after the natural world?

Include your name and age at the bottom.

You must write the answers to your questions on a word document and then email the answers to me at rossc2@cqsb.qc.ca

If they are good they will be published on the BBC interactive map.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/8368373.stm

Mrs Rosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06099884728230106122noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439473054907068859.post-1527027805078899212009-12-04T07:13:00.000-08:002009-12-04T10:43:29.919-08:00Missing Endangered Species ProjectsHere is a list of the missing Endangered Species Projects.
If your name is on the list and you have presented it, it means you did not leave me a copy. But I still need your work handed in so that they can be graded.

If you did not present in class either hand in a hard copy of your presentation or (if electronic) you may email it to me at rossc2@cqsb.qc.ca. If you feel that your work would grade better by being presented let me know and you can present it at lunchtime to me.Mrs Rosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06099884728230106122noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439473054907068859.post-7650269051691129852009-10-18T11:56:00.001-07:002009-10-18T11:58:59.071-07:00Homework - 'Day in the life' questionI have had a few people asking me to clarify what to do for the question in the homework: Write a day in the life of your animal.

What I am asking you to do is to imagine you are the animal you have chosen. Write a diary entry as if you were the animal, what does it do on a daily basis. For example; the animal will wake up, what food will it hunt for? Does it live in a group? How does it interact with other animals (of its species or others)? Where does it sleep? Describe the environment it lives in, does it move alot during one day? So, you need to imagine you are the animal and describe what you (the animal) does on a typical day.

I hope this helps. If not let me know and I'll help you further.

You should now have completed questions 1-6.Mrs Rosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06099884728230106122noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6439473054907068859.post-49203566186844933832009-09-27T17:34:00.001-07:002009-09-28T08:44:52.319-07:00Endangered Species HomeworkHere is your homework project:

http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0Aeq4n98MbWwSZGQ3NXZ0N3FfMTdka2NkNnZkdw&hl=en_GB

You will complete it over the coming weeks.
